Work-Life Balance (WLB) issues are beginning to occupy centre stage.
For many, this is the route through which they discover
more about flexible working. For others, the flexible work comes
first, and by changing the way people work they come to understand
more the WLB benefits for staff.
As always, in what is a relatively new field, there is
a tendency for organisations to try to re-invent the wheel. There is
now developing quite a corpus of information "out there" - much of it
accessible through the Internet. Here we bring together So,

UK
Government Work-Life Balance web pages - Now on the Department of
Trade and Industry website, includes reports plus news of research and
funding opportunities.
UK Employers for Work-Life Balance - An alliance of mainly large
organisations promoting WLB. Website includes case studies and
reports.
Work-Life Balance in Canadian Workplaces - A very informative site
packed full of resources
Parents at
Work - UK organisation promoting better balance for working
parents
Fathers Direct
- UK site for fathers, with a strong interest in the work/parenting
interface
TUC
Changing Times website - A variety of resources on the traces
Union Congress website, including reports, case studies and advice on
work options.
Work and Family Connection - Describes itself as "a world-wide
information clearing-house for work-life professionals". A lot
of information here, though there is a subscription fee for accessing
most of it.
Centre for Families, Work and Well-Being - Another Canadian site
with many useful resources
The
UK Employers' Organisation for Local Government has some resources
on WLB focusing on the public sector
Research sites
Much of the information available is from North
America, where ideas of WLB have a couple of years head start over
Europe.
