Technologies for Flexible Work

There's a revolution in working practices going on.  Some aspects of flexible working - like flexitime - are not necessarily supported by new technologies. But the ones affecting where we work, the way we work, and the way we communicate at work are greatly affected by innovations in technology.

The Flexibility philosophy is that technology on its own will not maximise the benefits from new ways of working. Nor will personnel polices on their own, or facilities redesign. But having an integrated change programme that focuses on business objectives, involving all the disciplines, will maximise the benefits.

Understanding what the technology can do, however, is essential even (especially?) for those who work in other fields.

So read on. And do let us know if there are any areas in particular you would like to see covered in future articles.

Welcome to our latest addition to Flexibility!

In this section we aim to keep abreast of the rapid changes in technology. You'll find Plain English (we hope!) introductions to the new technologies and services that affect the way we work.

A note on language

As we say, we'll keep the jargon under control, but due to the nature of the beast there will be more technical terms and abbreviations than elsewhere in Flexibility

But don't worry - our policy is not to use a term without first explaining it. And as backup we have our ever-expanding glossary - you can find a link to it on the left of every page.
