Flexible Working in the Public Sector

How to develop and manage flexible working

Aims and Objectives

As flexible working becomes an increasingly common feature of working practice across the public sector, there is a challenge to implement effective processes to ensure that the benefits of flexible working are maximised for both employers and employees.

The Government’s proposals to extend the current right to request flexible working to parents of older children will place further pressure on employers to incorporate effective practices for flexible and mobile working.

Through a series of expert led workshops and practical case studies delegates will engage with key issues and common barriers when implementing mobile and flexible working, including:

  • Choosing the right type of flexible working for your organisation
  • Changing staff culture to increase take up of new working arrangements and making the most efficient use of resources
  • Measuring the effectiveness of your flexible working practices
  • Dealing with flexible working requests, including your ‘right to refuse’ and the potential implications
  • Managing and motivating a dispersed and mobile workforce
