Northwest Flexible Working Group

Group hosts second event

The Northwest Flexible Working Group has announced its second event for employers considering introducing or expanding on flexible working practices.

The Flexible Working event will be held at the ICDC conference centre in Liverpool on Tuesday 6th November. A strong line-up of speakers will provide practical guidance on how to introduce and develop flexible working practices. The event kicks-off with a technology panel, including speakers from Orange, local company Greenlight Computers and law firm, Addleshaw Goddard. Other presenters include David Parr, Chief Executive of Halton Borough Council, Sarah Williams, HR manager at KPMG and Susannah Robertson of consultancy, Robertson Cooper, who will talk about maximising work/life benefits for employees.

Peter Connor, regional manager for BT and Chairman of the Northwest Flexible Working Group, said: “This is the second event we have hosted in the region and we are doing so based on popular demand. As companies see the benefits flexible working brings in terms of lower property costs and more productive employees, they are requesting events of this kind that offer practical advice on how to introduce and develop flexible working practices. This event will appeal to representatives from both the public and private sectors who are exploring this modern way of working.”

Regional research on the benefits of flexible working will also be revealed at the event. The research has been compiled with support from six major companies who are members of the Northwest Business Leadership Team. The research work has been supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and Andrew Halliwell, acting head of ICT Policy at the NWDA, says:

“Six major companies agreed to share information with us on the benefits they are reaping from being flexible employers. We have carried out the research to show how this way of working benefits the region’s economy, environment and society. Not only will this event offer practical advice from speakers, it will also show how the region can prosper by encouraging companies across the Northwest to adopt flexible working.”

The Flexible Working event is free to attend and registration can be carried out online at http://www.merit.org.uk
